Not sure if the community robbery better known by the media and public as a riot will be your topic of the day.
I was not at ELM yesterday but heard there was trouble although I also heard the situation was diffused very quickly Alhamdulillah.
The point I wanted to make was around the media and whether there is a way we can have an influence on the terminology they use when they present their reports.
For example the Norway “massacre” was originally referred to as a Al-Qaeeda terrorist attack as they never knew it was their own born and bred that carried out the atrocities. However as soon as they found out, the term terrorist was replaced with massacre even though what happened was a form of terror in the eyes of the media in Norway and across the world.
Today at work the discussion about the “riots” proceeded and I was explaining how this is just a huge robbery along with arson. One idividual decided to mention that it would be a good time for any terrorists to attack.
On that note I decided to explain that what is happening is a form of terror BUT because there are no muslims involved the media quite frankly will not use that term. I continued by saying how can you not call the arson of a building where you have a woman jumping out of her window similar to people jumping out the window of the World Trade Centers as a form of terror.
Is there anyway of being more forceful (not in a violent way of course) with our approach with the BBC or ITV and ask them to justify why they categorize certain reports as massacres or riots when if the people involved were muslim we would be seeing a different story appear – as we did when the first reports appeared about the Norway “massacre”.
Maybe a senior member representing us muslims can work with the media although I understand it is a hard task but if there is a way then we should not hold back as the media have caused the public across the WORLD to have a different view about us and ultimately this has caused violent scenes since 2001 and idiots have formed groups like the EDL.
Dont get me wrong we have had some irresponsible muslims too but some of the stories that have appeared are just pure wrong!

i just wanted to say that i dont agree that ‘bad man is great’
its applaudable that he chooses to vlog and his videos appeal to the youth as he reaches them on their level rather than it being a lecture which they may not even bother to comprehend
however, this is also having a bad effect on muslims
if you were to ask some one about his videos, the point they will will highlight are usually his catch phrases ‘girl if you like me, 079 me’ and the such
and this is the message that is left will the youth and the one that overpowers the last 20 seconds of his sketches where he offers islamic advise
his videos are in a sense hypocritical as he says not to go partying, meeting girls yet numerous girls feature in his videos dressed indecently
how did he manage to get them to participate in his video if he didnt know them previously already?
so im not saying not to watch the videos as the messages he sends out at the end are beneficial but in the long term, this is not particularly remembered/ focused on so the purpose of his videos are defeated.
